Welcome to Western Yoga Alternatives formerly Yoga Alternatives. Many people
of Western beliefs are searching for a Yoga practice for health reasons.
Not everyone seeking a new Yoga practice is interested in the religious
aspects of Yoga. For these people we offer Sport Yoga. Sport
Yoga is a
Yoga practice free of religious ties. Western Yoga Alternatives also offers
a second practice Elohim Yoga which incorporates scripture from the Holy
Bible for those of Biblical beliefs. Elohim Yoga is a practice of Body
Prayer.
Both books combine breathing techniques, asanas, meditation/prayer
and some basic information on the history of Yoga and some tips on basic
nutrition. Whichever practice you choose, each book is a basic Yoga lesson
you can do in the comfort of your own home! Our books are spiral bound
and lie flat on the floor for easy reference from your Yoga mat.
Yoga
teaches self discipline and creates energetic vitality it increases oxygen
to the blood, improves coordination, increases range of motion and boosts
immunity! It has been proven a well stretched muscle resists stress and
can prevent injuries such as muscle strains and torn ligaments. Our focus
is on a lifestyle that encourages awareness and consciousness, compassion
and self-knowledge. Yoga is a process and should be approached as such.
Slowly increase your commitment to the practice and enjoy the gradual changes
that will appear. We suggest starting off twice a week. Ideally it is thought
a practice of Yoga six times per week, and taking one day off for rest.
