Namaste is Sanskrit and translates as: “The Holy or Divine within me bows, to the Holy or Divine within you.”
For those of Western faith, it would translate: “The Holy Spirit within me bows, to the Holy Spirit within you.”
Yoga Alternatives
is a Biblically sound Yoga practice. Yoga Alternatives teaches
a lifestyle of Yoga, not merely asanas (often called postures or
poses.) We combine the basic stretches of Sport Yoga (similar to
Hatha) with Western faith. Yoga is a lifestyle of living in the
moment, being aware of God’s love, and being thankful in every moment of the day. We also teach of the importance of nutrition and healthy choices.
Yoga Alternatives
teaches Sport Yoga and incorporates scriptures from the Bible.
Our first book “Lesson One” combines Yogic breathing techniques, asanas, meditation, and nutrition. Also included is our version of the “Son Salutation” which is a flow of asanas incorporating the Lord’s Prayer. This is a powerful way to begin and or end your day. This book is a great first Yoga lesson you can do in the comfort of your own home!
Yoga teaches
self discipline and creates energetic vitality! Yoga increases
oxygen to the blood, improves coordination and increases range
of motion and boosts immunity! A well stretched muscle resists
stress, and it can prevent injuries such as muscle strains and
torn ligaments. Our focus is on a lifestyle that encourages awareness
and consciousness, compassion and self-knowledge. We practice the
principles of right conduct and lifestyle with respect for others,
non-violence, truth, honesty, moderation, and non-covetousness,
purity, contentment, discipline, self-study, and devotion.
Yoga is a process
and should be approached as such. Slowly increase your commitment
to the practice and enjoy the gradual changes that will appear.
We suggest starting off twice a week. Ideally it is thought a practice
of yoga six times per week, and taking one day off per week for
rest.
Shalom shalom,
(peace within and peace all around)
Namaste, (the
Holy Spirit in me bows, to the Holy Spirit in you.)
